The guy in this video used 3-in-1 multipurpose oil but I think that might gum up in the long run. Chances are that the whole camera has a lack of lubrication, or is starting to fail, and the correct thing to do would be to strip down the camera to clean and relube it entirely. I recently bought a Canon A1, in good exterior shape but I found some problems when using the fast shutter speeds. There are videos with shutter sounds for that camera, including the infamous squeak mentioned in this thread. The original author says he used gun oil, but at the same time recommends against penetrating oil and from what I can see, gun oil is 'penetrating' - he. When I brought the viewfinder up to my eye and pressed the shutter button to snap the photo, instead of the usual snap one would normally hear, I heard nothing and my viewfinder was filled with doomsday red digital E symbols. Of all the problems that pop up in A-series cameras, this is probabably the easiest. This goes for the Canon squeak too.

He does a wonderful job on A series cameras for Far Less than. I doubt Canon thought people would be using AE-1's in the year 2022. Don't do stupid things infamous "shutter squeak" problem.
Reply To add to this, it appears you also have a squeaky shutter, which is normal for these cameras after a few decades. Maybe we should just rename this sub, because that advice has nothing to do with repair.
